Job title: Senior Cost Accountant / Manufacturing Financial Analyst

Duration: 3-6 month contract

Our client is seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Finance professional to join their Operations Finance team on a contract basis. This individual will play a key role supporting manufacturing operations through cost accounting, plant reporting, product costing, and business partnering. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment where they can make an immediate impact.

Principal tasks and responsibilities

  • Partner with Plant Managers and Operations teams to support day‑to‑day manufacturing finance activities.
  • Prepare monthly manufacturing scorecards, KPI reporting, and productivity analysis.
  • Perform standard costing, product costing, variance analysis, and inventory‑related reporting.
  • Support month‑end close activities, including manufacturing reporting and financial analysis.
  • Assist with new product costing, innovation costing, and operational decision support.
  • Analyze labour, material, overhead, and production variances while identifying key cost drivers.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, and R&D.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and provide recommendations to improve operational performance.
  • Maintain costing processes and support continuous improvements within the manufacturing finance function.

Qualifications and pre‑requisites

  • 3‑5+ years of experience in manufacturing finance or cost accounting.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, product costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory accounting.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or plant operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred; experience with other large ERP systems will also be considered.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • CPA designation or working toward completion is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience within food, CPG, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
