Downtown Hamilton | Fast‑Growing SaaS / Fintech The Compliance Analyst supports the day‑to‑day execution of the company’s compliance program, assisting with client onboarding, KYC reviews, screening, monitoring, investigation support, recordkeeping, and general compliance operations. This role plays a foundational part in ensuring compliance with AML/ATF and related regulatory requirements under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), with awareness of FATF standards and guidance. The Compliance Analyst works under the guidance of senior compliance staff and contributes to maintaining accurate, complete, and audit‑ready compliance records while escalating potential risks and issues appropriately.
What You’ll Be Doing Client Onboarding & KYC Conduct KYC/CDD reviews for new and existing clients in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Collect, review, and organize onboarding and due diligence documentation. Review client files for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with internal standards.
Support periodic KYC refresh cycles and client remediation initiatives. Escalate missing information, unusual findings, or higher‑risk indicators to senior compliance staff in a timely manner. Screening, Monitoring & Investigations Support Assist with sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and other name screening activities, as assigned.
Support transaction monitoring alert review and case documentation under supervision. Assist with investigations by gathering relevant information, preparing summaries, and maintaining complete case records. Support the preparation and system entry of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), where applicable, and maintain supporting documentation.
Promptly elevate potential suspicious activity to the Compliance Manager for review and determination. Compliance Operations & Recordkeeping Maintain compliance logs, trackers, case files, and supporting documentation. Help ensure records are accurate, organized, and audit‑ready.
Assist with quality assurance activities, including file reviews and document checks. Support policy and procedure implementation by following documented workflows and controls. Reporting, Coordination & Support Assist in preparing internal compliance reports, metrics, and status updates.
Respond to internal compliance‑related requests and follow up with relevant stakeholders as needed. Support training administration and general compliance team coordination activities. Perform other compliance‑related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in law, business, finance, criminology, political science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 1–2 years of experience in compliance, AML, KYC, operations, banking, payments, or financial services preferred. Demonstrated interest in financial crime compliance, regulation, risk management, and AML/ATF frameworks. Basic knowledge of the PCMLTFA and awareness of FATF standards and guidance is preferred.
CAMS or similar professional certification in progress is considered an asset. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow procedures carefully and document work clearly and consistently. Strong analytical thinking and willingness to learn and develop within a compliance role. Ability to identify issues, ask questions, and elevate concerns appropriately.
Good time management and ability to handle routine tasks reliably. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
