Junior Compliance Analyst Based in our Halifax office, this position reports to the VP, Compliance and will be responsible for providing support across a variety of functions, including compliance validation testing, regulation, investigations, monitoring & surveillance, and customer due diligence. Day-to-day supervision will be provided locally by the AVP, Anti-Money Laundering Officer (AMLCO). Your responsibilities will include: Aiding senior members of the Compliance team with their queries.

Assisting with requests from law enforcement and regulatory authorities. Assessing client onboarding practices and documentation. Reviewing data analytics, ensuring monitoring and surveillance requirements and quality assurance reviews are undertaken by Compliance.

Communicating compliance and risk management standards to internal clients. Assisting with compliance validation testing and spot checks as assigned and communicating identified areas of concern by crafting reports to business partners, when appropriate. Analyzing Compliance and/or Financial Crime processes and procedures, identifying failings, and making recommendations for remediation to internal and external departments.

Identifying data quality issues and making recommendations on where to improve or how to resolve them. Evaluating and escalating risks and/or failure of standards to management promptly and appropriately. Supporting regulatory projects, including gap analysis between policies and practices, tracking regulatory findings, and ad hoc requests from the regulator.

Contributing in the performance and monitoring of testing reviews of Compliance, Financial Crime, and the Business, in line with Group requirements. Your qualifications and skills include: Completion of a post-secondary education, preferably in business or a related field. 0-2 years of Compliance or Financial Crime experience, with familiarity regarding regulations and standards. Good communication skills, both written and spoken.

Strong and reliable recordkeeping, reporting, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Proven ability to liase with and operate effectively in a team. Ability to multi-task and work against tight deadlines.
