Job Description

Company Description

Furlong Painting has been delivering commercial painting and maintenance services for over 25 years. We work across Education, Aged Care and Retirement Living, Healthcare, Owners Corporation and Retail Environments throughout Greater Melbourne. Our approach is relationship‑focused rather than simply transactional.

Our Business to Business clients rely on us not simply to paint buildings but to help them plan, protect and improve their facilities. Supported by structured systems and an experienced team, we aim to provide consistent, professional outcomes and long‑term partnerships.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal position within the business and will become a primary point of contact for many of our clients. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities while also supporting and strengthening existing relationships across the commercial repaint and maintenance sector.

The role involves both independent work and collaboration with our internal team. Success will come from your client outreach, marketing initiatives, ability to understand client needs and tailoring them into practical project solutions.

Key responsibilities include

  • Developing new relationships through strategic marketing
  • Meeting with prospective and existing clients
  • Visiting sites and estimating project requirements
  • Preparing scopes of work and detailed project proposals
  • Providing advice and planning guidance to clients
  • Coordinating handover to operations once projects are secured
  • Maintaining ongoing relationships to ensure successful outcomes

You will remain a trusted client contact throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring expectations are understood and outcomes are achieved.

Who This Role Suits

This position is well suited to someone who has:

  • A great attitude, with strong attention to detail
  • Proven knowledge and end to end sales experience in the painting, facility maintenance or construction industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work with 'figures', capable of measuring, estimating and preparing quotations and client proposals to a professional standard
  • An understanding of painting applications, techniques and correct product selection to ensure accurate estimations and quality finishes.
  • Experience in building relationships with potential clients via cold calls, networking and other opportunities
  • Ownership of developing new work by identifying prospects, initiating contact and turning conversations into opportunities.
  • Proficiency in using electronic software programs (Office 365, CRM)
  • Confidence working in and out of a small office environment
  • Is organised, self‑directed and comfortable working autonomously
  • Enjoys working as part of a broader team where relationships matter
