Clinical Nurse Specialist- Rheumatology

Overview We are seeking an experienced, motivated senior nurse with excellent clinical skills and strong leadership capability. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical practice while also managing a small team of Specialist Nurses, supporting their development and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, patient‑centred service. Responsibilities Manage patients with complex rheumatological conditions, delivering evidence‑based care aligned with current best practice. Collaborate within a large multidisciplinary team and maintain a visible, accessible presence for patients, carers, and colleagues. Lead and run independent nurse‑led clinics using advanced clinical decision‑making, comprehensive health assessment skills, and non‑medical prescribing. Review new and follow‑up patients, demonstrate extensive knowledge of rheumatology medications and biologic therapies, determine treatment pathways in line with NICE and BSR guidance. Oversee the biologics service and home‑care prescribing processes. Provide assessment, treatment, health education and support to patients to manage their conditions in clinic and through telephone or virtual tele‑medicine services. Provide highly specialised advice, education, training, and support for patients, and develop care pathways and nurse‑led initiatives to enhance services delivered.
