The Grande Prairie Public School Division is seeking an experienced teacher with an inclusive mindset to join the Division's Multi-Disciplinary Team a Classroom Complexity Teacher. The Classroom Complexity team works in collaboration with the Multi-Disciplinary team, Educational Programmers and school administrators and classroom teachers to support the delivery of students supports.


Qualifications:



  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligible to apply)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education

  • Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check


Assets:



  • Master's Degree in Education/Special Education with course work and experience in positive behaviour supports

  • Experience and training in Universal Design for Learning (UDL)


Responsibilities:



  • Responsibilities of the Classroom Complexity Teacher will include the following:

  • Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to plan and delivery support for students and classrooms with complex needs

  • Provide direct and small group and targeted instruction to students.

  • Work in a variety of classrooms (Grades 7-8)


Skills and Competencies:



  • Demonstrates recent experience in supporting students with special education needs, including development and implementation of IPPs and coordination of multidisciplinary services

  • Demonstrates skills in planning for diverse learning needs

  • Possesses an understanding of current inclusive education expectations and practices

  • Demonstrates the ability to work well with individuals and groups of teachers in a collaborative manner with a focus on student-centered decision-making.

  • Demonstrates the skills and experience to have worked successfully with Educational Assistants in planning and delivering student-centered programming.
