Role Overview

The Civil Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of civil and structural engineering systems for mission-critical data center projects. The role translates project requirements into civil and structural solutions supporting resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency. The position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and may include design development, technical coordination, construction support, client interaction, and mentoring responsibilities depending on project needs and experience.


Key Responsibilities

• Develop civil and structural engineering designs from feasibility through detailed design and IFC documentation.

• Ensure civil solutions support structural loads for critical equipment, cooling systems, and power infrastructure.

• Produce drawings, specifications, and technical documentation aligned with CTS and Eurocode standards.

• Coordinate civil design with MEP, architectural, and specialist disciplines; work closely with BIM Coordinators to support clash-free models.

• Review and respond to RFIs, design changes, and site queries.

• Support client presentations, design reviews, and coordination with local authorities and licensing bodies.

• Provide civil engineering support during construction, including site inspections, shop drawing reviews, and technical meetings.

• Ensure compliance with local codes, Eurocode standards, and licensing requirements.

• Support sustainability strategies, including BREEAM and LEED.

• Prepare and review design packages within assigned scope and support QA/QC and as-built documentation.

• Contribute to multidisciplinary project coordination and authority submissions.

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members where required.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

• Relevant experience in critical infrastructure, data center, or high-complexity industrial projects.

• Proficiency in structural calculation and civil modelling tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit, and Tekla Structures.

• Knowledge of BIM workflows and applicable Eurocode standards.

• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams and supporting authority filings.

• Registration with the Ordem dos Engenheiros is preferred.

• Intermediate or advanced English required.
