Job Role: Chemistry Teacher (International Curriculum) (Middle School)
Location: Sector 70A, Gurgaon
Overview
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and experienced Middle School Chemistry Teacher to join our Science Department. The candidate will be responsible for creating an engaging and inquiry-driven learning environment that develops students' conceptual understanding of Chemistry while nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and a genuine interest in the world around them.
The role requires a teacher who is comfortable working within an international school environment and can effectively deliver and adapt learning experiences aligned with Cambridge and IB frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging Chemistry lessons appropriate for middle school learners.
- Develop students' understanding of core Chemistry concepts through practical, inquiry-based, and experiential learning.
- Design lessons that encourage students to question, investigate, analyse, evaluate, and draw evidence-based conclusions.
- Differentiate instruction to address varied learning abilities, learning styles, and individual student needs.
- Integrate real-world applications of Chemistry to make learning relevant and meaningful.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies, including experiments, demonstrations, collaborative learning, projects, simulations, and digital resources.
- Develop students' scientific literacy, problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate scientific ideas effectively.
Cambridge & IB Curriculum
- Plan and deliver learning experiences aligned with relevant Cambridge and IB curriculum frameworks.
- Develop conceptual understanding alongside subject-specific knowledge and skills.
- Incorporate inquiry, reflection, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking into classroom practice.
- Support interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning where appropriate.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, mapping, review, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain appropriate curriculum documentation, schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources.
Practical & Laboratory Learning
- Plan and conduct safe, age-appropriate Chemistry experiments and laboratory activities.
- Develop students' practical scientific skills, including observation, measurement, data collection, analysis, and evaluation.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety procedures and school protocols.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to ensure appropriate preparation and availability of resources.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Develop and use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student learning.
- Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students.
- Analyse assessment data to identify learning gaps and inform future teaching.
- Support students in setting learning goals and taking ownership of their learning.
Collaboration & School Contribution
- Work collaboratively with other Science teachers and academic teams to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional learning communities, and curriculum development initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues across subjects to facilitate interdisciplinary learning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Science, Education, or a related discipline.
- A recognised teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent.
- 3โ5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in an international school environment.
- Experience with Cambridge and/or IB curriculum will be an advantage.
- Cambridge and/or IB professional development or certification will be preferred.
- Experience teaching Chemistry/General Science at the middle school level.
- International school experience will be an added advantage.
