Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Design Engineer with experience in CATIA and NX for the design and development of Automotive Exhaust Systems. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in 3D modeling, 2D drafting, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and product development within the automotive domain. The role involves designing exhaust components and assemblies while ensuring compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive exhaust system components using CATIA V5 and NX.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Develop and modify exhaust system layouts, brackets, hangers, mufflers, pipes, catalytic converter assemblies, and related components.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T principles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, CAE, Testing, Quality, and Purchasing.
- Support product development activities from concept to production.
- Ensure designs comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal engineering guidelines.
- Participate in design reviews and implement engineering change requests (ECR/ECO).
- Conduct feasibility studies considering cost, performance, quality, and manufacturability.
- Support prototype development, validation testing, and production launch activities.
- Maintain BOMs, engineering documentation, and product databases.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong experience in CATIA V5 and NX CAD.
- Experience in Automotive Exhaust Systems design and development.
- Knowledge of sheet metal components, weldments, tubing, and fabrication processes.
- Good understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience in 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailing.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience with BOM creation and engineering change management.
- Familiarity with APQP, DFMEA, and automotive product development processes.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to emission control systems and after-treatment products.
- Knowledge of vehicle packaging and routing studies.
- Experience working with OEMs and Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
- Understanding of validation and testing requirements for exhaust systems.
- Exposure to PLM tools such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelorβs Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
