Business Development Representative, Wind-Down
Thomas Talent Network
Job Description
About the Company
A seed-stage company (founded 2023) that started by helping founders through company shutdowns and has since expanded into a new revenue stream: sourcing the real, proprietary operational data that frontier AI labs need for the next generation of models. It partners directly with essentially all of the frontier labs, frontier data labelers, and RL environment teams. The company has scaled from $0 to a multi-million run rate in months, is backed by top-tier investors, and recently raised again โ a rare ground-floor seat at a category-defining business, with the team more than doubling (roughly 14โ15 additional engineers planned).
About the Role
As Business Development Representative (Wind-Down), you'll be the first point of contact for founders navigating one of the hardest moments in their company's life. You'll build a qualified pipeline for the Wind-Down Account Executives and hold a high standard in every interaction. You won't join prospect calls yourself โ your job is to book qualified meetings for the AEs to run.
This is a high-volume, high-quality motion: relentless outbound while keeping every conversation extremely high-quality, because the people on the other end are founders under real pressure.
You'll sit inside a small wind-down pod alongside two Account Executives โ partnering on sourcing, strategy, and deal handoff โ reporting directly to the Founder. This is a genuinely empathetic sales role rather than a hard-sell one: it rewards reps who can be relentless through hundreds of no's while staying sharp, credible, and human.
What You'll Own
- Consistently hit or exceed monthly targets for qualified meetings booked
- Generate a high volume of outbound opportunities through personalized outreach
- Partner closely with Account Executives on sourcing, strategy, and deal handoff
- Continuously find ways to improve and iterate on outreach and process
- Hold an extremely high-quality standard in every founder interaction
Must-Have
- 12+ months of BDR experience, or a consulting, closing, or operations role with clear quota ownership
- Empathy for founders navigating one of the hardest moments in their company's life, and the judgment to handle those conversations with care
- Relentlessness: keeps pace and standards high through hundreds of no's
- High EQ and IQ: sharp and credible, not a stereotypical hard-sell rep
- Excited to build in person, 5 days a week, from the Dumbo office, working toward world-class performance
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in consulting or operations
- Internship or early-career experience in a performance-based or client-facing environment
- A track record of iterating on outreach and improving conversion
- Comfort operating in an early-stage environment without a fixed playbook
