Solarcore is seeking a Business Development Director, Government to focus on thermal insulation applications across the U.S.

Department of War and allied nations. This high-impact, strategic role is responsible for shaping long-term growth, driving major captures, and positioning Solarcore as the premier thermal insulation provider to the Defense Industry. The ideal candidate brings deep domain expertise, executive-level customer relationships, and a proven record of winning complex, mission‑critical programs.

The Business Development Director, Government will engage with the U.S. Department of War, allied nations, Government Prime Contractors and key government stakeholders. We are looking for a dynamic, credible, and disciplined leader who can clearly communicate complex ideas without unnecessary complexity and build trust with senior government, military, and industry counterparts.

Key Responsibilities Serve as a senior growth leader for thermal insulation within the Defense Market, helping shape and execute market and capture strategies. Build, maintain, and expand executive-level relationships across US DoW operational, technical, and acquisition communities. Identify, qualify, and mature a robust portfolio of US DoW thermal insulation opportunities supporting near-, mid-, and long-term growth.

Lead and oversee capture strategies for priority pursuits, ensuring disciplined execution across the full BD lifecycle. Partner with Government Prime leadership, capture executives, program managers, and solution architects to align investments, offerings, and messaging. Drive competitive positioning and differentiation through deep understanding of customer needs, mission priorities, and competitor capabilities.

Coordinate across Solarcore business areas to deliver integrated, enterprise-level solutions to customer challenges. Assist in delivering annual bookings, revenue, pipeline, and award targets with Solarcore Sales team. Guide development of marketing collateral, white papers, and thought leadership that highlight Solarcore’s capabilities.

Additional Responsibilities Represent Solarcore at industry forums, tradeshows, customer engagements, strategic planning events and company meetings at Solarcore HQ in Portland, OR. Travel expectations 50%+. Support company compliance efforts by preparing compliance matrices for proposal development and maintain evidence of conformity for government audits.

Collaborate with product and technical team at Solarcore to translate complex customer requirements into compliant material specifications and validation metrics. Manage compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), EAR (Export Administration Regulations), and U.S. Customs requirements for all cross-border material movements.

Maintain thorough understanding and enforcement of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) guidelines. Other duties as assigned. Experience and Requirements Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance; active clearance strongly preferred.

Deep understanding of government (including DoW) acquisition processes, contracting, customer buying behaviors and compliance is required. Ideally has led business development or capture efforts in defense, particularly within thermal insulation, soft goods, hard‑tech, and/or advanced manufacturing environments. Proven success leading and winning large, complex defense programs.

Established senior-level relationships with DoW & allied nation stakeholders. Ability to lead and influence across organizational and geographic boundaries. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive and flag-level briefings.

Proficient in ITAR, EAR, FAR, DFARS, and chemical/material compliance frameworks (REACH, Prop 65). Professional credentials such as a Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or similar designation a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
