Business Analyst

Business Analyst (Capital Markets) Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 4 Days WFO) Client: TCS/RBC Duration: 12 Months Contract Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst (Systems Analyst) with strong Capital Markets domain expertise to support strategic initiatives across Finance and Product Control organizations. The successful candidate will work closely with Product Controllers, Finance Controllers, Technology Teams, and Business Stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze complex financial data, and drive solution delivery for medium to large-scale projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep understanding of Capital Markets products, and the ability to bridge business requirements with technical solutions.

The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities Business Analysis & Requirements Management Conduct requirements gathering workshops and stakeholder interviews with Product Controllers, Finance Controllers, and business users. Analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and system requirements.

Lead requirement discovery, analysis, review, and sign-off sessions. Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and user stories. Perform impact analysis and identify upstream/downstream system dependencies.

Manage requirements lifecycle, including traceability, risk assessment, assumptions, and constraints. Capital Markets & Financial Products Analysis Develop understanding of RBC Markets financial products including: Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) Bonds Interest Rate Derivatives Other Capital Markets instruments Understand trade booking, settlement processes, positions, sub-ledger accounting, and valuation methodologies. Analyze trade economics and trace source data through WSB and related applications.

Support solution design and change management initiatives for strategic programs. Data Analysis & Solution Design Perform detailed data analysis using SQL, Excel, and existing data models. Analyze and reverse engineer current-state systems and data models.

Assess current and future state architectures and conduct gap analysis. Develop: Data Flow Diagrams Business Context Diagrams System Context Diagrams Functional Solution Designs Analyze MS Access-based data models and propose enhancements aligned with business requirements. Project Delivery & Agile Execution Work closely with development teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.

Support Functional Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives. Break down high-level deliverables into user stories and detailed project tasks.

Provide guidance and leadership to Scrum teams throughout project delivery. Manage multiple priorities while ensuring project milestones are achieved. Tools & Platforms JIRA Confluence SQL Microsoft Excel MS Access Agile/Scrum Frameworks Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Technology, Business, Finance, or related discipline. 5–7 years of Business Systems Analysis experience in large enterprise environments.

Strong experience working within Financial Services organizations. Expert-level SQL skills for data analysis and validation. Advanced Excel skills for financial and operational analysis.

Strong requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management skills. Experience conducting data analysis, reverse engineering, and gap assessments. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Ability to work with senior business stakeholders and technical teams.
