Bookkeeper/Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts, Amex, and payables


• Prepare accounts payable runs and create ABA files


• Maintain and manage the Chart of Accounts


• Allocate costs accurately to ledger codes


• Maintain and create tracking categories


• Generate monthly invoices


• Maintain contacts in Xero


• Manage receivables chasing to ensure prompt payment


• Prepare and action journals


• Reporting including P&L and tracking category reporting


• Prepare and lodge BAS / PAYG


• Proficient use of Xero, Hubdoc, ApprovalMax (PO to invoice matching), Payapps, and XeroMe (personal expenses)

Payroll & People Systems

• Process weekly payroll


• Manage superannuation


• Use Deputy to create locations and set up employees

About You

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper in Australia (construction industry experience highly regarded)


• Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping experience in Australia required


• Strong hands‑on experience with Xero (essential)


• Advanced level Xero experience is essential


• Comfortable working independently and owning outcomes


• High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills


• Confident dealing with payroll, BAS, and multiple systems


• Reliable, organised, and proactive


• Australian permanent residency or citizenship required
