Company : IWK Health Req ID : 221725 Department / Program : Clinical Engineering, Digital and Client Services Location : Halifax Type of Employment : Permanent Hourly FT (100% FTE) x 2 positions Start Date : 07/06/2026 Union Status : NSGEU Healthcare, Support Bargaining Unit Compensation : $36.63 - $47.16 /hour Closing Date : June 18, 2026 Signing Bonus : up to $7,000 for successful external applicants (subject to Return of Service for 2 years) Relocation Assistance : up to $5,000 (subject to Return of Service) Responsibilities Perform equipment management, user education and problem resolution for all areas of the health center. Repair, maintain, preventive maintenance, setup, install, test, troubleshoot, modify and maintain medical equipment according to accepted policies, procedures, standards, and specifications. Perform pre‑purchase evaluation and follow‑up of new equipment.

Provide technical guidance and assistance to patients and staff on safe operation and maintenance of equipment; act as a resource in equipment‑related issue resolution. Assist with investigation and follow‑up of equipment‑related alerts and occurrences. Attend and participate in projects, committees and training activities.

Travel as required for training/business. Document services provided according to departmental policies and procedures. Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Overtime & on‑call/standby shifts as required. Your Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Biomedical or Electronic Engineering Technology program. Registered or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with TechNova.

Registered or eligible to be registered as a Certified Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET). Must obtain CBET certification within 3 years of hire. Graduate of a Biomedical Engineering Program & associate practicum preferred.

High level of attention to detail and patient safety. Demonstrated ability to read/understand policies, procedures & service manuals. Strong troubleshooting skills related to electronic and mechanical medical equipment.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Good computer skills (database, spreadsheets, word processing, data entry, network configuration and troubleshooting, software installation, driver installation & testing, server management). Ability to acquire and apply highly technical information on a continuing basis.

Ability to assess risks from technology application in patient‑care environment and initiate action as required. Competency in other languages (French preferred) considered an asset. Employment Notice Only contact selected applicants.
