Biomedical Engineer

Job Summary: An Engineer for the design, development, and prototyping of medical devices, with a focus on mechanical components and systems. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (designers, manufacturing crew, clinicians, and more) to transform product concepts into functional prototypes and manufacturable products. Candidates with prior experience in prototyping, with strong problem-solving skills, and an engineering-driven approach to processes will be preferred. Responsibilities 1. Design and Development • Determination of the complete life-cycle of medical devices from unmet clinical need to manufacturing • Realization of product concepts into prototypes • 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication methods 2. CAD Design and Development • Parametric CAD modelling and 2D manufacturing drawing • Maintenance of records of design iterations and drawing revisions • Design for Manufacturing 3. Testing, Evaluation, and Documentation • Testing evaluation of the performance of prototypes, components, as well as final assemblies • Document test observations, results, and other performance metrics 4. Collaboration and Communication • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams • Communicate effectively with vendors and fabrication partners Required Skills • Working understanding of anatomy and physiology • Problem-solving, divergent and convergent ideation • Proficiency in CAD and parametric design • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping: 3D printing, laser cutting, and machining, fabrication, etc. • Basic understanding of electronics and programming Preferred Skills • Understanding of medical device design considerations (anatomy and physiology, biomedical engineering, ergonomics, safety, biocompatibility) • Understanding of FEA and CFD • Familiarity with CNC milling, turning, molding, and other manufacturing processes • Experience in documentation • Above average sense of humour Qualification: Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in Engineering Prior internship or 0–2 years of experience in prototyping preferred We are a young Medical Device company incubated at SINE IIT Bombay working at the intersection of healthcare and innovation.
