Behaviour Teaching Assistant King's Lynn

About the role:

Justteachers are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a therapeutic SEMH school in King’s Lynn. This is a full-time position starting in September on a long-term supply basis.

This rewarding role involves supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and therapists to provide tailored support that enables pupils to engage successfully in education and build confidence in themselves and their abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional, and SEMH needs
• Support pupils in accessing learning across a range of subjects and activities
• Implement behaviour support strategies and therapeutic approaches in line with individual plans
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation, social skills, and positive relationships
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
• Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and enrichment activities where required

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or challenging behaviour
• Two education or school-based references
• A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to manage and de-escalate challenging situations effectively
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them succeed
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
