Salary: Band 8a, £28.48 per hour
Location: Hybrid, Belfast based however regional approach required
Part time, Full time and compressed hours considered
Contract: Full-time temporary assignment until March 2027
Looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children across Northern Ireland? This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist to join a regional service supporting Children Looked After within primary schools. Working across education and health, you'll provide specialist psychological expertise, deliver training and consultation, and help shape a developing regional service.
MCS Group are proud to be partnering with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust in their search for a Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Band 8a) to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for an experienced psychologist who enjoys collaborative working, service development, and making a lasting impact through consultation and specialist psychological support.
The Role
- Providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to support children who are looked after within primary schools
- Working collaboratively with schools, health professionals, social care teams and carers across Northern Ireland
- Delivering specialist consultation, advice and training on trauma-informed and attachment-focused practice
- Supporting multidisciplinary teams through psychological formulation and clinical expertise
- Contributing to service development, research, audit and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supervising and supporting assistant, associate or trainee psychologists where appropriate
- Maintaining high professional standards, clinical records and governance in line with HCPC and organisational requirements.
The Person
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential:
- HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist
- Doctoral qualification in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the British Psychological Society
- Eligibility for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society
- Experience working therapeutically with children and young people, including specialist psychological assessment and intervention
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with experience working across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage an autonomous caseload
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or alternative arrangements where applicable).
- Experience working therapeutically within a child-related specialism, such as in CAMHS and/or in a Looked After Children service.
