About the Role

We are looking for a Mid-Level .NET Backend Engineer to join an international engineering team focused on developing and maintaining modern backend applications.

In this role, you will build scalable backend services, develop microservices and APIs, contribute to application reliability, and collaborate with experienced engineers to continuously improve software quality and development practices. This position is ideal for a hands‑on engineer with solid .NET experience who enjoys working in collaborative, agile environments.

Location: Maia, Portugal (Hybrid – 2 days/week)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using C# and .NET.
  • Build and maintain scalable microservices and REST APIs.
  • Implement asynchronous and parallel processing solutions using Task Parallel Library (TPL).
  • Develop integrations using messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Solace, or similar platforms.
  • Work with Docker containers and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and observability best practices.
  • Apply SOLID principles, Design Patterns, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) in software development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software solutions.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, optimize application performance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience with C# and .NET development.
  • Experience building and maintaining microservices and REST APIs.
  • Practical experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Solace, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of asynchronous programming and Task Parallel Library (TPL).
  • Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • Familiarity with logging, observability, and tracing tools such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Prometheus.
  • Good understanding of SOLID principles, Design Patterns, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and collaborative mindset.
  • Commitment to software quality and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kubernetes (AKS, OpenShift, or GKE).
  • Experience migrating .NET applications to Kubernetes environments.
  • Knowledge of Helm Charts and Kubernetes deployment practices.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms.
  • Experience contributing to shared frameworks, internal SDKs, or engineering platforms.

Work Model

  • Hybrid
  • 2 days per week on‑site in Maia, Portugal.
