Job SummaryWe are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 3β5 years of experience in backend software development to join our engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reliable, scalable, and high-performance backend systems.
The ideal candidate should have strong backend development experience, a good understanding of software architecture and system design, hands-on experience with AWS, and exposure to advanced backend engineering concepts such as caching, asynchronous processing, performance optimization, and scalable system design.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend services.
- Design efficient database schemas, queries, and data access layers.
- Implement appropriate techniques for caching, performance optimization, concurrency, and asynchronous processing.
- Work with queues, background jobs, event-driven systems, and other backend technologies where appropriate.
- Identify and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and production issues.
- Develop secure, maintainable, and production-ready software following established engineering practices.
- Work with AWS services to develop, deploy, and operate cloud-based applications.
- Participate in system design and architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, DevOps engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders.
- Review code and contribute to improving engineering standards and development practices.
- Take ownership of assigned modules and features throughout their development lifecycle.
- 3β5 years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, React and Node.js or similar software technologies (legacy would work too).
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, backend architecture, databases, and software engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Practical experience with backend performance and scalability techniques, including caching, database optimization, asynchronous processing, and concurrency.
- Good hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-based application development.
- Good understanding of system design and software architecture.
- Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to independently understand requirements, evaluate technical options, and implement solutions.
- Experience in architecting an end-to-end software solution or significant portions of a production system.
- Experience with microservices or distributed systems.
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience with application monitoring, logging, and observability.
- Experience designing systems for high availability and horizontal scalability.
- Experience with technologies similar to Node.js, JavaScript, or React is also considered.
- Strong ownership and accountability.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Focus on writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Ability to understand the broader system rather than working only on individual features.
