Job Description
The Automotive Technician provides a range of quality mechanical and technical support and advice to the region, relating to fleet and equipment. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for liaison with external service providers, contract maintenance, and the improvement of quality control processes relating to the regional fleet and equipment function.
The Automotive Technician provides effective specialist fleet advice relating to repairs, ongoing maintenance, build quality, design and safety to minimise any adverse impact on the operational effectiveness of the regional fleet and to improve patient safety outcomes.
Key attributes
- High level of mechanical and technical experience and understanding relating to fleet management.
- Demonstrated experience with and capability in the utilisation of computer‑based fleet and workshop management systems.
- Well developed communication, negotiation and consultation skills and the proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Well‑developed analytical and problem‑solving skills including a demonstrated ability to interpret fleet and equipment performance data to drive performance improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements
- Applicants must have the recognised trade qualification of A: Grade Automotive Technician, or other equivalent trade qualification; with a minimum of three (3) years post‑apprentice trade experience.
- Applicants are required to hold a Queensland Driver's Licence equivalent to the National Rigid Licence – Light Rigid (LR) level. Interstate and international applicants must hold an equivalent licence at the time of applying and will be expected to obtain a Queensland Driver's Licence upon appointment.
- Applicants are required to hold a current First Aid Certificate; or have successfully obtained a First Aid Certificate prior to commencement.
- Experience in the application of Code of Practice (Light Vehicle), vehicle air‑conditioning systems, electrics and contemporary diesel engines is highly desirable.
- There may be a requirement to perform after‑hours / on‑call duties when required.
