Automotive Technician

Gardner Autos is seeking a qualified and experienced Automotive Technician to join our growing service team.

The role

Working alongside an experienced team, you will perform a range of servicing, diagnostic and repair work across various vehicles while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting vehicle servicing, inspections and general maintenance
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and recommending appropriate repairs
• Repairing and replacing engines, transmissions, suspension systems and other components
• Completing warranty repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures
• Test-driving vehicles and completing final quality assessments
• Accurately recording repairs and work completed in internal systems
• Advising the Service Manager of any additional work required
• Ordering parts needed for servicing and warranty repairs
• Maintaining current knowledge of automotive technology and mechanical developments
• Providing guidance and support to apprentice technicians when required
• Following all workplace health, safety and security procedures
• Delivering a high standard of service to customers and internal departments

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A recognised automotive technician or motor mechanic qualification
• Relevant industry certification to work as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic
• Strong vehicle servicing, diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Sound knowledge of engines, brakes, electrical systems, transmissions and suspension
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A customer-focused attitude and excellent work ethic
• A current Australian C Class driver’s licence
• Previous post‑trade experience in a similar role is highly regarded
• Experience supporting or training apprentices is desirable
