In this exciting and rewarding role you will lead the delivery of the most complex construction engineering services, while supporting and developing others to deliver high‑quality, safe and buildable engineering solutions. Kier Design is a top‑25 engineering consultancy delivering construction‑focused, innovative and buildable solutions across the UK. With access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline, we work across major infrastructure, construction and public sector schemes.
Location: Birmingham | Hours: 40 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired. Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of complex temporary works, above and below ground in all materials, integrated with permanent works where required. Act as Project Lead, managing technical scope, programme, budget and client relationships across bids and live projects.
Provide technical assurance through design reviews, third‑party assessments and resolution of engineering issues and incidents. Support bid and tender activity through outline designs, feasibility studies, value engineering and buildability solutions. Lead, mentor and develop engineers, share best practice and contribute to technical standards and training.
Qualifications Chartered Engineer or member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CEng, MICE) with significant post‑qualification experience. Strong background in temporary works design and checking across a range of construction environments. Extensive experience leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams within a consultancy or contractor‑led environment.
