Job Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Accountant supports the International Paper Sales finance function by providing accurate transactional accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, cash management, reporting, budgeting support and financial analysis.

The role contributes to effective financial controls, business performance reporting and continuous process improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Administration & Accounting:

  • Manage the Singapore cash book in accordance with Treasury, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable procedures.
  • Process and code invoices accurately and complete SAP postings in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, analyse and report monthly operating expenditure for the Singapore headquarters.
  • Support administration of HSBC Singapore banking activities and payments.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Assist with month-end activities and financial reporting requirements.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Develop an understanding of products, markets, customers and key cost drivers.
  • Support sales and operational teams with accurate and timely financial information.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and management reporting.

Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with Visy policies, procedures and financial controls.
  • Maintain accurate records and support audit and compliance requirements as required.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting.
  • Contribute to the implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Other Duties:

  • Undertake other duties within the scope of the role and capability as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

Mandatory:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting international or multi-country operations.
  • Progress towards, or completion of, a professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese to support stakeholder engagement across the region.
