Assistant Accountant

Our client, a well-established and growing motor dealership based in Co. Offaly, is looking to add an experienced Accounts Assistant to their finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment where no two days are the same. Experience within the motor industry would be a distinct advantage, but we would also welcome applications from candidates who have worked in other fast-paced sectors such as retail, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Process purchase invoices and supplier payments accurately and on time.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any invoice queries.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and daily cash allocations.
• Support credit control and debtor management where required.
• Prepare and post journals.
• Assist with month-end reporting and account reconciliations.
• Process employee expenses and other financial transactions.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Work closely with the wider finance and dealership teams to support daily operations.
• Assist with any additional administrative or finance-related duties as required.

About You

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounts Administrator or Bookkeeper position.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment is essential.
• Motor industry experience is highly desirable but not essential.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable and general accounting procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
• A team player who is willing to get involved and support the wider business.
