Application Developer

Position Summary:

The Application Developer supports and enhances business-critical manufacturing and quality systems used across Visy operations.

The role is responsible for application support, software development, project delivery, and continuous improvement of primarily .NET-based applications and related technologies. Working closely with operations, quality, and IT teams, the position ensures systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with business requirements.

The role operates with a high degree of autonomy, providing technical expertise while contributing to project outcomes and supporting day-to-day business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Support the reliable operation of systems that contribute to safe manufacturing operations.
• Identify, manage, and escalate operational, security, or compliance risks when required.

Application Support and Development:

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for business-critical applications.
• Investigate and resolve incidents, defects, and system issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions.
• Develop, test, deploy, and support application enhancements and software changes.
• Maintain application configurations, master data, and technical documentation.
• Support and modernise legacy applications while contributing to future-state solutions.

Project Delivery:

• Support the delivery of application development and improvement projects.
• Work with business stakeholders to gather and define requirements.
• Contribute to solution design, development, testing, deployment, and transition to support.
• Support project go-live activities and hyper care.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and quality standards.

Business Partnership:

• Collaborate with operations, quality, manufacturing, and IT teams.
• Ensure solutions meet business requirements and align with technology standards.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Build strong working relationships across global teams.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Support application modernisation and standardisation initiatives.
• Stay current with software development, cloud, and manufacturing technology trends.
• Contribute to the IDT technology roadmap and strategic initiatives.

Security and Risk Management:

• Apply security controls and development best practices throughout the application lifecycle.
• Ensure applications comply with company standards and governance requirements.
• Support business continuity and operational resilience for critical systems.

Experience and Qualifications:

Mandatory:

• 8+ years of experience in application development and support.
• Strong experience with Angular, .NET C#, and related application technologies.
• Experience supporting and delivering business-critical enterprise applications.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical issues and minimise business impact.
• Experience working collaboratively with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Desirable:

• Experience working with SQL databases.
• Exposure to GitHub repositories.
• Experience with other modern web application frameworks.
• Experience supporting legacy application modernisation initiatives.
