We are looking for technically curious and motivated students to join our Software R&D team for a 12-month placement. This is an exciting opportunity to work on real-world AI/ML applications within advanced communication systems, gaining hands-on experience in software engineering, machine learning, automation, and next-generation wireless technologies.
You will work alongside experienced software, AI/ML, RF, and systems engineers, contributing to projects that support the development, testing, and optimization of intelligent communication solutions.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You Will Work On
Develop, integrate, and test AI/ML-powered software applications within communication system workflowsWork with Python, machine learning frameworks, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and automation toolsSupport the development, validation, and testing of 5G and next-generation communication protocolsCollaborate with software, RF, systems, and data-focused engineering teamsContribute to performance analysis, software automation, and optimization of telecom systemsParticipate in software design, implementation, debugging, testing, and validation activitiesAssist with AI model integration, evaluation, and data-driven engineering workflowsSupport technical investigations and system-level problem solvingWhat You’ll Gain

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related disciplineStrong Python programming skillsUnderstanding of machine learning fundamentals and data processing conceptsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work effectively within a collaborative engineering environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsEnthusiasm for learning new technologies and solving technical challengesHighly Desirable Skills
Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learnFamiliarity with Hugging Face, model deployment, or MLOps conceptsExperience using LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development toolsExposure to Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI APIs, Claude CLI, or similar AI technologiesKnowledge of telecommunications, networking, or 5G protocolsUnderstanding of signal processing, time-series analysis, or protocol stack conceptsExperience with C, C++, C#, or .NET technologiesIdeal Candidate
You are passionate about software development and emerging AI technologies. You enjoy solving technical problems, experimenting with new tools, and applying machine learning to real-world engineering challenges. You are curious about wireless communication systems, 5G technologies, intelligent automation, and how AI can be used to improve complex engineering workflows.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
This position is intended for students undertaking a placement year and available for a full 12-month internship.
