Spec Furniture is building its Accounting Team. We are looking for a full-time, permanent leader who aligns to our Values: Customer First; Make it Happen; and Better Every Day.

The Accounting Manager focuses heavily on daily operations, is responsible for overseeing and preparing accurate and timely financial statements; compliance; managing accounts; team leadership & development; managing conservative FX hedging strategies to support cost control and is directly accountable to the Controller. This role serves as a bridge between day-to-day accounting staff and executive leadership. The role requires audit management acting as liaison between the organization and external auditors during financial audits.

The Accounting Manager provides leadership and support to the accounting team (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll) and assists other departments with budget planning and management. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to clearly communicate complex financial information to both internal and external stakeholders.

The Knowledge and Experience You Bring

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent designation an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting and leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in effectively leading teams by providing consistent opportunities for effective communication; listening to concerns and resolving disruptions; and taking decisive action that drives results
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements and managing AR/AP and Payroll functions; experience with UKG preferred
  • Experience with FX hedging and cost control strategies
  • Experience with audit processes and financial analysis techniques
  • Expertise in GAAP & IFRS, Proficiency with accounting software (Sage 300 preferred) and Microsoft Excel, Power BI
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to support budget development and management across departments

Technical Accounting

  • Involved in complex accounting such as high-level reconciliations, closing of books, ensuring proper accounting treatment for transactions.

Accounts Management

  • Oversee AR/AP and Payroll processes.
  • Management of FX hedging strategy for cost control.

Audit & Analysis

  • Coordinate with the parent company for audits.
  • Provide specific financial analyses as requested.

Budget Support

  • Assist other departments with budget planning, monitoring, and variance analysis

Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
