About this Role

Aligned Climate Capital is seeking an Accountant to provide critical support to the firm’s financial operations team. This role will work closely with the Controller to ensure accurate and compliant financial record-keeping and reporting. The position requires in-person attendance at the New York City office from Monday through Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays.

The Accountant will be responsible for executing monthly accounting close procedures and maintaining comprehensive financial records across all accounts. This includes preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders. The role involves coordinating with various departments to analyze financial data and assist with tax preparation, audits, and other year-end processes.

Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables including creating invoices, journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in compliance with US GAAP
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, and general ledger entries
  • Record business credit card transactions while tracking approvals
  • Prepare bank reconciliations to ensure accurate account balances and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements
  • Assist Controller with tax, audit, and other year-end preparations and reconciliations
  • Provide necessary supporting documentation and invoices to third-party stakeholders as requested
  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data
  • Scan, organize, and maintain company documents in a systematic manner
  • Assist with 1099 preparations
  • Perform other accounting and bookkeeping tasks as requested by the Controller

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • At least two years of accounting and/or bookkeeping experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Familiarity with private equity funds (preferred qualification)
