Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our consulting firm. This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and manage core accounting processes, tax compliance, and help ensure accurate financial reporting across domestic and international business activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, cash flow reporting, and budget tracking.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in Xero, including chart-of-accounts management and reporting.
• Tax accounting activities, including tax provisions, filings, and documentation.
• Handle accounting considerations related to international transactions, including foreign currencies, cross-border payments, and VAT/GST.
• Assist with audit preparation, financial controls, and process improvements.
• Partner with consulting and operational teams to provide reliable financial insight and resolve accounting issues.
  

Mandatory skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification or progress toward one (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
• Proven experience in an accounting role, ideally within professional services, consulting, or a fast-paced multi-client environment.
• Strong knowledge of tax accounting and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting international dealings, including multi-currency accounting and cross-border tax or regulatory considerations.
• High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage deadlines independently.
• Clear, practical communication skills and collaborative working style.

Beneficial/nice to have skills

• Hands on proficiency with Xero.
• Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Experience in or integration with Power BI to contribute to financial dashboards.
• Proven experience in an accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of tax accounting and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing international client accounts.
• You are a confident, proactive, and detail-oriented Accountant who takes ownership and accountability for your work.
• Immediately available or able to commence at short notice.
