Accountant

We are looking for an Accountant to join our team in Barcelona - Spain. Responsibilities

• Executing month‑end closing activities in SAP system according to internal closing schedule and in line with IFRS and internal accounting guidelines.
• Undertake system corrections, investigate, and analyse major costs and yield variances.
• Review and analyse the plant and regional SG&A fixed costs on a monthly basis.
• Post month‑end journal entries such as accruals, re‑class journals, and payroll entries.
• Post revenue‑recognition related accruals (e.g. shipped not billed, contract related, deferred billing).
• Document all supporting documentation related to month‑end closings.
• Prepare reports to comply with local country requirements such as financial statistical information.
• Execute capex and fixed assets accounting procedures.
• Process daily cash application for the nominated ALTA Performance Materials entity.
• Prepare and file Intrastat reports and support VAT return filing.
• Support the external audit process by preparing the required documentation.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Administration with professional experience of accounting processes and controls over a minimum of 5 years in an international environment.

• Professional knowledge of the use and application of SAP system and Business Warehouse reports.
• Excellent understanding of the use and application of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Fluent English; proficiency in another European language (French, Polish, Finnish or Spanish) is a plus.
