Job Description
Registered Nurse (Temporary Part Time – 9 month contract) – DRCC Radiation‑Pre & Post and Ambulatory Clinics, Lakeridge Health Oshawa
Wage: $41.150 – $58.980 per hour. Days: 8‑hour shifts (subject to change).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, you will use the nursing process to develop and implement patient‑care plans for patients receiving treatment in the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. In the Ambulatory Clinics you will demonstrate professionalism and maintain competence in all aspects of patient care, maintain nursing records, and perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing
- Completion of the de Souza Institute Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice course or equivalent
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- IV start certification preferred
- Recent (past 3 years) experience in oncology nursing on an acute oncology floor or ambulatory oncology clinic
- Evidence of continuing education in oncology nursing preferred
- BScN preferred
- Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO), Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO), or Canadian Nurses Association certification as a Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C)) are assets
- Willingness to complete CON(C) certification when eligible to write is an asset
- Skills managing CVADs (PICC/PORT) and wound care are assets
- Experience with electronic documentation and electronic medical records is an asset
- Experience providing symptom management over the telephone is an asset

- Ability to work and perform in stressful and emotionally intense situations
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and experience in patient teaching
- Organizational, time‑management and prioritization skills
- Ability to self‑reflect on nursing practice and implement learning strategies; commitment to maintain CNO Reflective Practice Standards
- Physically capable of lifting, turning and transferring patients manually and with mechanical aids
- Must have a satisfactory performance record

- Understanding and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient and environmental safety, and participation in regular in‑services in this area
