Not Drones Innovations Pvt. Ltd.

AhmedabadFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

Job type: Full time Work experience: 2-3 years Location: On-site Key skills: SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender, Key shot or similar About the Role (This is a physical product design role. We do not work on digital interfaces, apps, or screens. If your portfolio is primarily UI/UX, this role is not for you.) At NOT Drone’s creative team, we believe, Drones that fly are common.

Drones that feel inevitable β€” that's what we make. We're a consumer drone studio obsessed with form, and we need an Industrial Designer who brings the same obsession. You'll own every design decision from raw concept to production-ready geometry.

No hand-holding, no moodboard theatre β€” just sharp ideas, clean surfaces, and the satisfaction of seeing your work take flight. What You Will Do Develop original concepts grounded in design references β€” think DJI, Nothing, Dyson, Marshall, Apple, DailyObjects β€” and push beyond them. Translate concepts into precise 3D surface models with clear intent β€” not just rough forms.

Produce orthographic elevations, section views, and annotated surface breakdowns for handoff to the mechanical engineering team. Work within real physical constraints (existing frames, PCB envelopes, structural requirements) without losing design integrity. Collaborate directly with mechanical designers during NX/SolidWorks parametric conversion β€” your model must be buildable.

Create high-quality KeyShot renders for internal review and stakeholder presentations. Proactively flag when a design direction is weak β€” and propose what better looks like. You Are a Strong Fit If You can look at a 3D model and immediately identify what is wrong with its proportions, surface transitions, or visual language β€” before anyone tells you.

You have designed physical products (not just screens), and you understand how form follows manufacturing. Your portfolio shows finished, detailed work β€” not just AI-generated concepts or mood boards. You are fluent in Rhino 3D(or similar) for surface modelling and KeyShot (or similar) for photorealistic rendering.

You have worked in environments where your geometry fed directly into engineering CAD (SolidWorks / NX). You studied product design, industrial design, or a related discipline You are self-driven enough to know when a design needs more work, without waiting to be told. This Role Is Not For You If Your primary workflow is prompting AI tools to generate concepts and presenting those as your own design capability.

You cannot produce clean orthographic drawings or surface breakdowns from a 3D model. You have never seen your design go through tooling, molding, or physical manufacturing. You rely on the engineering team to tell you whether a design is buildable.

This is a physical product design role. We do not work on digital interfaces, apps, or screens. If your portfolio is primarily UI/UX, this role is not for you.

Skills & Tools On the modelling front , you should be fluent in Rhino 3D (or similar) β€” this is your primary surface modelling environment and non-negotiable for this role. For documentation , you should be able to produce clean orthographic elevations, section views, and annotated surface breakdowns from your 3D model. The mechanical team works from what you give them β€” clarity here directly affects how well your design survives the engineering process.

Above all, we hire for design sense. Software can be learned. Form development instincts are harder to come by.

We are looking for someone who can look at a surface, a proportion, an edge detail β€” and immediately feel what is right and what isn't. Someone who studies great products not just to appreciate them, but to understand exactly why they work. That design sensibility needs to show in your portfolio, your process, and in how you talk about your own work.

On design awareness , we care less about which institutions you attended and more about how deeply you've studied the world around you. You should have a working knowledge of the industrial design canon β€” Nothing, Dieter Rams, DJI, Apple, automotive surfacing studios β€” and be able to articulate why something works, not just that it looks good. AI tools are welcome as part of an ideation workflow, but they are a starting point β€” not a deliverable.

Your value here is in what you do after the concept is generated
