Job Description
The Structural Building team is currently looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Structural Engineer to support the growth of the local office. This position is based out of our Vancouver office working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities Actively participate in the design and preparation of plans and specifications (steel, concrete, wood, masonry, etc.).
Conduct studies, surveys, technical reports and structural inspections. Engage in the development of structural systems and lead the structural design from schematic (concept) design through project completion. Lead project coordination meetings for both internal team members and external clients and consultants.
Assist in developing and managing the project scope, budget, staff allocation, and project schedule. Ensure that the engineering work is produced according to the quality standards of the industry and respects the National Building Code and British Columbia Building Code. Coordinate projects that impact your structural design with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, architecture, process, etc.).
Maintain and develop client and stakeholder relationships. Participate in value engineering as needed. Complete quality control and quality assurance on projects completed.
Support on standardization efforts within the Building Structural team. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGBC. Minimum ten (10) years of previous related experience in a similar role is preferred.
Strong experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.). Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to entry‑level engineers. Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage changing priorities.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and support junior staff in project delivery. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Compensation Expected compensation for this role is between $100,000 and $130,000 annually.
