Job Description

Title Senior Software Engineer Overview The Accelerators group within Mastercard's Business & Market Insights (B&MI) Platform Engineering organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help drive the technology, platforms, and engineering practices that enable teams across the organization to deliver faster, more reliably, and at greater scale. The Accelerators group is leading from the front in making meaningful contributions that allow the B&MI organization to go “faster.” This team is intentionally agile and flexible, not defined by a single technology stack, domain, or rigid process. Instead, it is composed of self-starters and self-unblockers who focus on delivering outcomes while continuously improving how those outcomes shape the next phase of platform evolution.

If you're seeking an opportunity to impact a business unit across platform engineering, DevOps, software engineering, and process transformation—while also mentoring and growing others—this position is for you. This is a hybrid role based in Arlington, VA, requiring three days per week onsite. Role Drive foundational improvements to CI/CD platforms, deployment pipelines, and engineering practices that improve reliability and accelerate software delivery.

Design and develop reusable frameworks, internal platforms, and developer tools that increase engineering productivity across teams. Lead modernization efforts focused on cloud‑native technologies, automation, AI‑assisted engineering, and developer experience. Build and maintain scalable applications, APIs, services, and platform capabilities that support enterprise‑scale solutions.

Partner with engineering, platform, product, and architecture teams to solve cross‑functional technical challenges. Contribute to architectural decisions that improve scalability, resilience, security, and long‑term maintainability. Identify opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve SDLC and PDLC effectiveness.

Support DevOps and platform engineering initiatives through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and operational excellence practices. Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across the organization. Stay current with emerging technologies and help evaluate opportunities to improve engineering effectiveness through innovation.

All About You Extensive experience as a Software Engineer, Full‑Stack Engineer or similar technical role. Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as C#, Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript. Experience designing and building scalable applications, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud‑native services.

Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar technologies. Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and modern platform engineering practices.

Experience developing internal platforms, frameworks, libraries, or tooling that improve developer productivity and engineering efficiency. Familiarity with API management, gateway technologies, secrets management, and infrastructure tooling. Experience working with large‑scale data platforms, ETL pipelines, or high‑volume data processing environments is a plus.

Strong interest in AI‑enabled engineering, workflow automation, and modern software delivery practices. Demonstrated technical leadership through complex projects, platform initiatives, or cross‑team engineering efforts. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
