Job Description Technical Data & Database Development Build, maintain, and audit buy-side and sell-side technical databases to support reservoir engineering analysis and valuation Integrate production, well, reserve, and assetâlevel data from multiple sources into structured, analysisâready formats Ensure data integrity, consistency, and traceability across transaction workflows Coordinate database updates across engineering and banking teams during live transactions Reservoir Engineering & Valuation Support Support reserves evaluation, decline curve analysis, and asset performance analysis under the direction of engineering team Work with team members to assess and quantify development inventory for relevant project areas Assist with technical inputs to NAV models, valuation frameworks, and investment memoranda Prepare supporting analyses and exhibits for internal reviews, management presentations, and client materials Translate raw technical data into clear, defensible outputs suitable for investment decisionâmaking Software & Tools Primary platforms include Aries, Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Spotfire, and Enverus. Experience or familiarity with CapIQ, SQL, VBA, Python, ArcGIS, and Petra a plus.
Develop repeatable workflows, templates, and tools to improve efficiency and consistency across transactions Assist with data extraction, normalization, and visualization to support technical conclusions Collaboration & Execution Work closely with reservoir engineers, A&D professionals, and investment bankers Operate effectively under tight deadlines with changing priorities Take ownership of assigned workstreams while maintaining alignment with senior team direction Identify missing data, inconsistencies, or analytical risks and proactively elevate them Required Qualifications Bachelorâs degree in a STEM field with strong academic track record (engineering, geoscience, mathematics, physics, or similar) Minimum of 1â2 years of total professional experience in a technical role in the upstream oil and gas sector Prior investment banking experience preferred but not required Demonstrated experience supporting reserves, A&D, or upstream valuation work a significant plus Strong database management skills with the ability to handle large, multiâsource datasets Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with attention to accuracy, structure, and presentation quality Familiarity with Aries, Spotfire and Enverus; experience with Access & SQL strongly preferred Ability to apply rigorous logic and critical thinking to ambiguous technical problems Attributes for Success Detailâoriented without losing sight of transactionâlevel objectives Comfortable taking direction but capable of identifying work that needs to be done without being asked High personal accountability; owns outcomes, not just tasks Able to operate calmly and accurately under deal pressure Professional communication style appropriate for a clientâfacing banking environment Collaborative team player with a high degree of intellectual curiosity Awareness of demands associated with a career at an investment bank Willingness to work long office hours in fast paced environment This is an inâoffice role based in Houston, TX â remote candidates will not be considered.
