Internal Auditor - Engineering

Harper Fox Partners have a high growth opportunity for a newly created Internal Auditor position based out of Houston, TX. The business we are supporting has gone through an exceptional period of growth on a global scale, with projects spanning the Americas, Asia and Europe. Following their continued success and evolution, this position has been identified as a key pillar of support to the executive leadership team as we create a new in-house auditing department. The role: Reporting directly to the Board and the Audit Committee, you will be responsible for internal audits and will establish, lead, and execute the internal audit function, operating initially as a one person department with the ability to scale as the organization grows. This appointment will allow a high degree of autonomy, you will need to be able to engage effectively with the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee, while remaining hands‑on and execution oriented. The focus will be on operational processes such as safety procedures and procurement, alongside finanical controls. Ideal experience: We're looking to bring in someone who is ready to take lead on internal auditing processes, we are very open to those that have not had previous leadership experience, but feel they are ready to take that next step in their career. Those that come from an Engineering background would add great value to existing and future projects. This position requires a shift in mindset, where the business will be transitioning from an external auditing structure, to an in-house model.

The focus will now be on how they can improve operational efficieny, this involves adapting to a broader scope beyond finance, managing long term stakeholder relationships, and moving to a strategic, proactive partnership that improves controls. Having the ability to report upwards and partner directly with executive leadership is a must in this appointment, as you'll be reporting directly into the company CFO.
