Senior Principal Video Player and Video Encoding Engineer

Overview Join OCI to lead the architecture and delivery of large-scale streaming and ad delivery systems that demand ultra-low latency, exceptional reliability, and global performance. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who drives technical direction, solves deeply complex distributed systems problems, and raises the bar for engineering excellence across teams. Work Locations Nashville, TN Austin, TX Broomfield, CO Seattle, WA Redwood City, CA Responsibilities Lead the design and evolution of scalable, resilient backend services for video delivery, ad insertion, and real-time traffic orchestration.

Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner across product, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver reliable systems. Drive architecture reviews, resolve high‑severity performance and scaling issues, and establish best practices for quality, observability, and operational excellence. Qualifications 10+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or real-time streaming platforms.

Strong experience with high‑scale backend architectures, networking, service reliability, and performance optimization. Demonstrated technical leadership, including architecture ownership, cross‑functional influence, and mentoring senior engineers. Experience with video delivery, ad tech, or low‑latency media systems is highly preferred.

Compensation US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 - $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week.

Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation. 11 paid holidays Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
