Job Description

What is the Opportunity? The Metadata/Data Lineage team is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve data governance and data lineage management across the organization. In this role you will strategically plan and manage the implementation of data lineage extraction and documentation, coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished on time.

What Will You Do? Analyze, validate, and document data lineage from complex legacy systems across AML, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Wealth Management. Design and execute SQL queries and Python scripts to extract data relationships and lineage information from undocumented or minimally documented legacy systems.

Build and maintain reusable frameworks and tools that scale across multiple systems and departments. Research and prototype AI/agent-based approaches to automate data lineage discovery. Collaborate cross-functionally with business teams, data engineers, and platform teams to understand data flows and validate lineage.

What Do You Need to Succeed? Must Have 3-5 years of data analysis, data engineering, or software development experience. Strong SQL and Python programming skills for data extraction, parsing, and tool development.

Experience with regular expressions and Bash/Unix scripting for data manipulation. Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly, especially legacy or undocumented code. Internal locus of control: ability to identify and remove your own blockers and drive solutions independently.

Nice to Have Experience with AI/agent frameworks, LLMs, and multi-model LLM concepts (MCP). Familiarity with mainframe systems, JCL, or other legacy enterprise systems. Experience with data modeling, schema design, or metadata management.

GitHub Actions or CI/CD pipeline deployment experience. What’s in it for You? A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable.

Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities. Ability to make a difference and lasting impact. Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.

A world-class training program in financial services. Flexible work/life balance options. Opportunities to do challenging work.
