Job Description
Role Overview We are looking for an Aviation Technical Publications Development/Authoring Specialist to support the Product Support Engineering Department for Boeing Defence UK. The specialist will develop, edit and maintain technical publications such as Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and Component Maintenance Manuals. Responsibilities Organise, review and edit technical publications, documentation and related data.
Gather and analyse customer requirements to determine scope and required elements. Facilitate and implement product improvement and maintenance of the Technical Publications Air System Document Set, complying with MAA regulatory standards. Support publication discrepancy reports (MoD F765), generate amendments and updates, and review publications for grammatical errors, format and style per guidelines.
Contribute to establishing standards and guidelines for technical document structure and format and recommend content edits for clarity, impact, flow, meaning, and readability. Research source data to verify technical accuracy of support publications. Participate in internal and customer reviews, maintain document configuration, data files, and archives.
Ensure First Time Quality is applied to all publication updates and that they meet quality management system requirements. Interface between the customer and key stakeholders when the Publications Lead is unavailable. Demonstrate multi‑tasking in a diverse teaming environment.
Key Skills Knowledge of ASD S1000D and/or AVP70. Experience with Simplified Technical English. Understanding of support engineering in a maintenance environment.
Ability to work cross‑functionally to deliver outputs compliant with organisational processes and procedures. Attention to first‑time quality and detail, alignment with supporting engineering documentation. Basic Qualifications Previous experience in Aviation Technical Publication Authoring environment.
Essential experience in obtaining UK Security Clearance (United Kingdom Security Check). Preferred Qualifications Experience with MoD Form 765 processes. Experience liaising with internationally located teams, including Design Organisation interface.
Experience creating graphics (desirable but not essential). Additional Information Location: Bristol (hybrid working pattern). May require occasional travel.
