Electrical Engineer

Electrical Engineer Leicester Salary: to cGBP45k neg dep exp + benefits Our client has been established for more than a century and is recognised as a global market leader in the design and manufacture of niche electrical solutions. As part of a continued programme of strategic growth, we are now seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to complement their skilled and professional team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will support the engineering team on its industrial product range, contributing to the design of electrical equipment for industrial applications, implementing electrical best practices, adhering to industry standards, and collaborating with the design team to create innovative solutions.

Hands‑on design experience and a solid grasp of both electrical and mechanical engineering principles are essential. Responsibilities Review design requirements and produce design calculations, production documentation and corresponding paperwork for manufacture. Approve drawings, BOMs and other design information issued for manufacture, and participate in R&D and product testing as required.

Select electrical components for use in control systems. Create 3D models (primarily sheet metal parts) and assemblies, issuing designs for manufacture through engineering drawings and supplementary documentation. Carry out detailed electrical design work, including design verification testing, reviewing and approving design information from other team members whilst ensuring adherence to relevant quality systems (primarily ISO 9001) and using Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) to document changes.

Conduct technical investigations, perform RCA and initiate corrective actions as required, and provide technical support to Production, Sales, Service and Customer Support departments as required. Deliver projects on schedule and within budget while managing a complex workload efficiently, ensuring compliance with applicable design, regulatory and industry standards, and identifying and applying new industry‑wide processes where beneficial. Qualifications At least 4 years’ experience in an electrical design position.

Qualified to HND level or above (or QBE) in an electrical engineering discipline. Required Skills Familiarity with CE marking processes and DFMEA. Proven experience in designing electrical equipment and/or machinery.

Comprehensive skills in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Solid experience with the MS Office suite and exceptional communication skills at all levels. Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices (materials, FEA, fixings, fabrication, etc).

Experience in designing MV assemblies and utilising HV test techniques. #J-18808-Ljbffr
