Job Description

Job Overview As an Automation Engineer, you will deliver high‑quality automation installations for project testing, including requirement capture, design, installation, commissioning, test programme delivery, and service support. You will work hands‑on with integrated hardware and software components, ensuring reliable and efficient solutions while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, customers, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Capture requirements and design detailed automation systems that are maintainable, extensible, and reliable.

Integrate software and hardware components into a single application. Verify and validate systems, including hardware interactions with the power system under test. Coordinate with internal and external teams at all levels to produce documents and facilitate design reviews.

Provide maintenance, fault‑finding, diagnosis, repair, and upgrades as needed. Perform factory acceptance testing and commissioning work according to company quality procedures. Assist in other business areas as required.

Qualifications and Skills Advanced experience implementing automation systems. Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI creation, and SCADA configuration. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT, OPC-UA).

Familiarity with industrial networks and implementation. Solid understanding of computer programming and software development. Hands‑on hardware troubleshooting and software debugging experience.

Knowledge of electrical circuit operation and design. Advantageous : Data storage and IT systems. Power systems.

Test & instrumentation. Data processing and analysis. Instrument/sensor selection.

Control systems. Industrial cyber security (IEC 62443, Purdue model). Substation networking (61850, PRP).

Working Conditions Permanent position based at the Whetstone, UK office. The role requires on‑site presence five days per week, with background checks and suitability assessments. Higher levels of UK security clearance, including "SC Clearance" and "UK Eyes Only Clearance," are required.
