Urgent Hiring: Platform Engineer – Glasgow (Contract) Job Title: Platform Engineer Location: Glasgow (5 days onsite) Contract Type: Inside IR35 No. of Openings: 8 Key Responsibilities Design, build, and operate Envoy and Kong API gateway infrastructure serving production traffic Develop Go-based control-plane services (xDS controllers, gRPC APIs, Kubernetes controllers) Implement OPA policies (Rego) for gateway-level authorization Manage GitOps deployments via ArgoCD and Helm in multi-cluster Kubernetes environments Build and enhance OpenTelemetry pipelines (Dynatrace, Splunk SIEM) Automate WAF/CDN configurations (Akamai, Cloudflare) using WAF-as-code approaches Collaborate with teams to onboard and migrate traffic from legacy systems Support incident response, production readiness, and operational excellence Promote best practices in engineering, testing, and observability-first design Required Skills 8+ years of experience with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent Strong expertise in Envoy Proxy and/or Kong API Gateway Advanced Go programming (concurrency, gRPC, Kubernetes client-go) Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS/on-prem) and GitOps practices Deep knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, PKCE, mTLS, and session management Experience with OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk SIEM Strong understanding of networking (L3–L7) and distributed systems Exposure to PostgreSQL, Kafka, CDN/WAF platforms, DNS steering, TLS lifecycle Nice to Have Experience with TypeScript/React (dashboard development) AWS services (EKS, MSK, Lambda, Network Firewall) CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket) and advanced GitOps workflows Knowledge of identity platforms (ForgeRock, SAML) and modern auth protocols Ideal Candidate A hands-on engineer passionate about building high-scale, low-latency, resilient platform services , with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
