Job Description – Senior Process Engineer (VAN00IC) Senior Process Engineer – VAN00IC Company: Worley Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada A senior role within the Mining, Minerals, and Metals team, responsible for leading or supporting projects across Canada and globally. Full‑time position with hybrid work schedule. Purpose: We are currently recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer – Mining, Minerals and Metals.
Our team includes world‑class experts and dynamic go‑getters. Responsibilities: Contribute to conceptual, feasibility, and detailed engineering designs for new or upgraded mining and mineral processing facilities. Develop design basis documents, supervise and analyze metallurgical and comminution test work, and support geo‑metallurgical model development.
Perform process simulations, calculations, and prepare specifications for equipment and instrumentation tailored to mining operations. Create and review process deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass and water balances, and support layout development and equipment selection. Conduct field work, data analysis, commissioning, and troubleshooting to optimize infrastructure and support seamless project execution.
Collaborate across disciplines, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and project‑specific procedures. What you will bring: Strong understanding and senior‑level experience of mineral processing and metallurgical processes and techniques, focusing on base and precious metals extraction. Proven expertise in designing and operating backfill plants (hydraulic fill, paste fill, cemented rockfill), tailings disposal systems, and mine infrastructure.
Skilled in developing laboratory testing protocols for paste backfill operations, including thickening, filtration, rheology, and UCS testing. Experienced in designing underground distribution systems and slurry transport models. Proficient in process design deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, plot layouts, mass/energy/water balances, and equipment selection/sizing.
Strong understanding of instrumentation and controls, process hazards, and risk assessments. Hands‑on experience with process modeling software (SysCAD, MetSim, HSC, JK SimMet) and standard tools (Excel, Visio, CAD). Field experience including audits, troubleshooting, commissioning, and construction supervision.
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development. Strong communication, collaboration, and commitment to safety and quality. Additional language skills (e.g.
Spanish) are considered an asset. Proven track record of contributing meaningfully to engineering projects through design, plant experience, or collaborative studies. Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada or eligibility. Salary range for British Columbia: $116,501 to $168,016. Salary varies by qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
