Job Description
Hybrid, Palo Alto (Hybrid – 2 days/week in office) Reports to: Director Data Science + Analytics About the Role Senior Product Analyst partnering with Product, Engineering, and Design teams as the data‑driven voice in the room, ensuring that every feature is grounded in evidence and every experiment yields actionable learning. What You’ll Do Use data to map user journeys, identify friction points in conversion funnels and moments that drive retention. Perform exploratory analysis on user segmentation, feature usage, and retention drivers.
Evaluate funnel step conversion to inform product prioritization and feature requirements. Estimate opportunity sizing for roadmap initiatives using historical data. Lead experimentation: design test plans, calculate sample sizes, define success metrics, and analyze results for statistical significance.
Define and track success metrics for new features and conduct post‑mortem analyses to iterate product strategy. Maintain data integrity by defining tracking plans and working with engineering to ensure analytics are correctly implemented. Embed within product and engineering to prioritize roadmap based on quantitative evidence.
Train Product Managers and Designers on analytics tools. What You Bring Technical Skills SQL mastery: advanced queries on large datasets. Data modeling & ETL: experience with dbt.
Product analytics tools: Amplitude, Mixpanel. Statistical foundation: hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, power analysis, quasi‑experimental designs. Visualization: Tableau, Looker, Sigma.
Python: scripting for analysis. Analytical Capabilities User empathy: translate data into human behavior narratives. Growth mindset: attribution modeling and incrementality testing.
Engagement focus: optimize re‑engagement via email and SMS. Metric design: define meaningful retention metrics rather than vanity metrics. Scientific rigor: ensure decisions are grounded in statistical accuracy.
Experience 4–6 years in product analytics or data science. Collaboration with Product Managers and Engineers on growth and retention initiatives. Designing and analyzing A/B tests at scale.
Experience in high‑growth startups, marketplaces, or healthcare operations preferred. Bonus: knowledge of HIPAA compliance and data privacy best practices. Salary: $150,000–$175,000 base + equity and benefits.
