Job Description
Join Silent-Aire – Powering the World’s Data Centers Location: Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Nisku Shift Options: Rotating Day Shift (Monday to Thursday – Continental) and Weekend Night Shift (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Key Responsibilities Collaborate in technical client conversations, pricing efforts, design development, code reviews, specification compliance, equipment certification, equipment testing, and guidance for development of construction documents. Support during manufacturing, commissioning, and warranty of OEM equipment.
Design, develop, optimize, and test mechanical components and equipment for AHU, CDU, and MDC products. Provide technical design support with a focus on mechanical design engineering for custom data center air handling (AHU) and liquid cooling equipment (CDU, pump skids). Utilize engineering analysis tools to size pumps, fans, piping, and ducting, evaluate performance metrics, and support decision‑making.
Prepare and review work products including BOM generation, costing, design submittals, reports, drawings, and Engineering Change Requests. Create and maintain SOPs for design processes and VAVE initiatives. Develop test specifications and specifications for products/assemblies in partnership with the Project Engineer.
Participate in VAVE initiatives, cross‑functional meetings, and support project timelines and objectives. Engage in estimating, business development, R&D, production improvements, procurement, marketing, and service aspects of the business. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (electrical/controls, manufacturing, QA, supply chain) to identify cost‑reduction and performance‑enhancement opportunities.
Other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in design engineering (HVAC, piping, heating and cooling systems, OEM manufacturing, or related industry).
R&D and product development experience is an asset. Strong understanding of VAVE principles and methodologies. Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables in a fast‑paced environment. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to data center equipment is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of Electrical, Structural, and Controls engineering.
Registered with APEGA. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, Revit, and FEA. CFD experience is an asset.
Experience with HVAC design, liquid piping design, skid design. Experience with product development, project management, or coordination. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.
