Field Engineer Date: May 12, 2026 Location: Calgary, AB, CA What is the Opportunity? Reporting to the Project Manager, the Field Engineer will provide field‑engineering information to the project management team and sub‑trades to ensure construction works comply with all design drawings, engineering standards, codes and specifications. This opportunity is for the Deerfoot Trail Improvements Project in Calgary, consisting of seven new bridges and additional lanes, ramps and interchanges.
What You'll Do Here Meet daily with project crews to review production schedule and ensure materials, equipment and resources are available to keep production on schedule and within budget. Collect, coordinate and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance. Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling, and identify risk elements that could impact budget or schedule.
Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance; document daily activities in company‑approved methods and technologies. Notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions. Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
Submit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding; manage cost coding with finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needs. Review project specifications for quality control at the beginning, during and after work; initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections and documentation. Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout; initiate and manage permits as needed.
Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as required. Reconcile job close‑out checklist with owner representative and field crews at project completion. Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring to the Team Post‑secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Minimum 3–5 years working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in project engineering or heavy‑civil construction. Knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials and standards applicable to the project.
Proficiency in construction industry software (e.g., Primavera, AutoCAD, SAP). Excellent computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
Flexibility to work in both field and office. Valid Alberta driver’s license.
