Job Description
Overview Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and environmental validation of ruggedized enclosures and mounting systems for smart antennas, radar/lidar/camera modules, and high‑performance compute platforms. Your work will ensure these systems operate reliably in harsh automotive and industrial environments. The Location Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world.
This position can be located in Calgary, AB. Responsibilities Mechanical Design – design enclosures and mounts for sensors and compute units with IP67+ sealing and thermal management. Develop 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using tools like SolidWorks or Creo.
Optimize designs for manufacturability, serviceability, and cost. Thermal & Structural Analysis – perform thermal simulations and structural FEA to validate designs under extreme conditions; design passive and active cooling solutions for high‑power compute systems. Environmental & Durability Testing – define and execute test plans for vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and ingress protection; support certification efforts for automotive and industrial standards.
Prototyping & Integration – oversee prototype builds and support integration of mechanical systems with electrical and optical components; collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers for tooling and production. Cross‑Functional Collaboration – work closely with electrical, systems, and software teams to ensure cohesive product development; participate in design reviews and contribute to system‑level architecture decisions. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in ruggedized product design, preferably in automotive or industrial sectors.
Strong knowledge of materials, sealing techniques, and thermal management. Experience with IP67/IP69K design, vibration isolation, and EMI shielding. Key Success Factors Able to work in a collaborative, multi‑site, team environment.
