Job Description

Salary CAD $38.13 /hr – CAD $54.82 /hr Job Summary The Financial Analyst reports to the Benefits Realization Lead and provides financial, accounting, planning and business support and advice to assigned program areas, including special projects and initiatives. The role focuses on benefits realization, supporting the development, tracking, and reporting of financial and operational benefits, including ROI models, benefit registers, KPIs and variance analyses across multiple projects. Responsibilities Monitor, analyze and assess operations of the health service delivery area relative to the annual operating plan, developing an understanding of operational and financial information used to manage the organization’s operations.

Develop and implement standard analysis processes and analyze special issues that affect the organization’s operations. Support the development of benefits‑realization tools, including ROI models, NPV and IRR analyses to evaluate project feasibility and performance. Monitor financial and operational data and flag risks, gaps or variances to expected benefits.

Assist in developing spreadsheets and databases to forecast results and produce reports for the Finance Team. Perform financial and statistical analysis of departments/programs, reviewing workload and financial results against budget, profitability, efficiency and productivity, and reporting concerns to the Finance Team. Provide backup and technical support for the Finance Team, assisting with analysis, budget modeling and responding to queries that require financial systems access.

Help identify capital equipment and project needs via cost/benefit analysis for capital requests and developing a priority list. Assist in analyzing proposed new initiatives, preparing business cases, consulting on impact assessment and implementation strategies, measuring performance against the plan, and identifying variances. Assist with operational reviews and business/financial process improvement reviews, gathering, analyzing and summarizing information.

Conduct statistical, workload and financial analyses on potential program deletions and mergers, compiling information, interpreting data and reporting findings with recommendations. Create forms for data collection and tracking, identifying and evaluating existing data resources, and entering data into appropriate databases. Respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis by researching, gathering data, manipulating database fields, preparing spreadsheets, tables, charts, graphs and reports as required.

Build key partnerships with financial representatives of VCH and other Health Care organizations. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field plus working towards a professional accounting designation (C.P.A., C.A., C.G.A., C.F.A. or C.M.A.).

Minimum of five (5) years recent, related financial analysis and financial planning experience in a large, complex, unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge & Abilities Demonstrated financial planning, monitoring, analysis and reporting expertise. Comprehensive technical expertise, process management, analytical skills and business acumen.

Advanced computer skills in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and database applications. Advanced experience with Power BI or similar data analytics and visualization tools. Superior analytical skills, including the ability to comprehend complex issues and present information concisely.

Broad knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial analysis techniques. Broad knowledge of computerized financial systems and procedures. Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities to provide lateral and strategic direction to clients.

Results‑oriented within a high‑pressure environment with numerous critical timelines. Strong writing and presentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization. Utilizes initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem‑solving abilities.

Customer focused with ability to facilitate and encourage co‑operation between diverse operational groups. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines.
