Title: Software Engineer II Location: Ottawa Team name: Digital Global Editorial Support Targeted Pay: $55/hr CAD About the Job Brooksource is hiring a Software Engineer II to join our clients Digital Global Editorial Support team. This is a great opportunity for an individual that is passionate about supporting digital products and editors around the world. This team is tier 1 support for every product, service and tool.
We also monitor product performance and stability and support tentpole live events and coverage of breaking news. As a Software Engineer II , you will work with cross-functional teams to triage and troubleshoot production incidents, and support editorial teams' day-to-day workflows. You will work with both front-end and back-end systems and services.
You also have the opportunity to work on building projects to support the clients web products. Your team works with product, design, revenue and technical teams across organizations. You will play a crucial part on the team as you will be responsible for responding to production issues, improving automation, and finding ways to improve and enhance daily workflows.
The Daily Be responsible for triage and troubleshooting bugs and production incidents, supporting editorial workflows and operational maintenance of digital products. Communicate effectively with editorial, engineering, product, and design team members to ensure product expectations for internal and external users are met. Support live news events.
Collaborate with team members in the planning and execution of new features and products. Thoroughly document your own contributions and, where necessary, the contributions of others. The Essentials 2+ years full stack development experience with an emphasis on front-end development, including JavaScript, HTML/CSS & Responsive design.
Experience with AWS services and other Cloud Platforms. Understand engineering best practices, design patterns, testing and alerting. Development experience building fully responsive designs that work across all screen resolutions and browsers.
The Nice to Haves Editorial programming or journalism experience. Experience with Cursor, Gemini or Claude tools. Experience developing or working with a publishing CMS.
Creating automated solutions to user needs. Experience with monitoring, alerting and synthetic tests. Experience with live streaming events.
Familiarity with programming languages, frameworks, platforms, API’s and/or SDKs. Knowledge of Operations, CI/CD, and DevOps.
