Position Type: Permanent. Union: Exempt - Management Professional (MP). We are seeking a Supervising Engineer, Facilities, who acts as a strategic and collaborative leader guiding the asset strategy for ENMAX’s corporate facilities and substation buildings.
In this role you will develop, implement, and continuously improve long‑term asset management plans that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations while aligning with ISO 55000, IAM, and GFMAM. Major Responsibilities Facilities Asset Strategy, Planning & Governance Develop, implement, and continuously improve a fit‑for‑purpose asset strategy and asset management framework for corporate and substation facilities, including lifecycle plans, asset registries, maintenance histories, asset health indices, and long‑term investment priorities. Establish risk‑informed maintenance and capital renewal strategies that integrate safety, reliability, compliance, cost optimization, and enable effective decision‑making.
Partner across ENMAX and with external stakeholders to ensure strong governance, data integrity, alignment, and efficiency opportunities across facilities programs. Budgeting, Regulatory Support & Capital Delivery Develop and manage capital and O&A budgets, business cases, and regulatory submissions to ensure alignment between asset strategy, financial plans, and compliance requirements. Oversee the planning and delivery of the annual facilities capital program, leading internal and external teams to achieve scope, schedule, cost, safety, and performance objectives.
Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team while fostering a high‑performance, safety‑focused culture grounded in accountability and collaboration. Build and maintain strong partnerships across Engineering, Projects, Planning, Regulatory, Operations, Field Services, Safety, Supply Chain, and external stakeholders to support asset strategy and program delivery. Education Required Minimum 12+ years of directly relevant experience in the electrical utility industry.
Registered as a Professional Engineer or PL (Eng.) with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA). IAM Certificate or Diploma in Asset Management is an asset. Qualifications Minimum 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, including leadership accountability.
Deep expertise in utility asset management, with strong knowledge of transmission and distribution assets and asset management practices. Proven experience developing asset management plans, capital programs, budgets, business cases, and regulatory filings. Strong business and regulatory acumen, including experience operating within the Alberta regulatory environment.
Proficiency in asset management systems such as IBM Maximo, as well as Microsoft Office and data analysis tools. Competencies Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across diverse stakeholder groups, including senior leadership. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value.
Highly self‑directed, organized, and able to prioritize effectively while delivering results through others. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive both strategic and operational objectives in a collaborative environment. Location This role will be part of our hybrid workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 – 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will have the opportunity to work from home on Mondays and Fridays and will be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
